Why Officialize APAMSA’s Membership System?

National APAMSA’s priority is to invest our membership dues directly to our regions, local chapters, and members in various ways. Since 1995, our membership has grown exponentially through grassroot effort, expanding to over 150 local chapters and 10,000+ members nationwide. With a student-run national board, time and resources are limited as most of the board are student volunteers. One of APAMSA’s biggest constraints is funding to sustain our current national initiatives and develop new innovations that will benefit our AANHPI members and communities. Thank you for your understanding and support in being our partner during this new process.

Goals

Create a database

Develop and sustain an official membership database for membership confirmation, recording keeping, eligibility for benefits, and more.

Generate a steady source of funding

  1. Provide more scholarships, grants, opportunities, and discounts for members.
  2. Become National APAMSA’s main source of income.
  3. Allow National APAMSA to further invest in and build our national, regional, and local infrastructure with our members and stakeholders.

Proposed New Membership Structure

  1. All prospective and current members will submit more detailed, individual membership forms online through Joinit.org
  2. Individual membership dues are due upon registration
  3. Membership benefits will be modified and fine tuned throughout the years for members at all levels including but not limited to pre-medical/pre-health students, medical/professional healthcare students, alumni physicians and healthcare professionals, and community members.

*Potential future initiatives may include but are not limited to:

  1. Employing an administrative/operations manager
  2. Setting up trust funds and establishing a sponsorship process
  3. Engaging alumni and members through socials, events, and programs like reunions, holiday gatherings, and mentorship
  4. Expanding career support for medical school and residency applicants
  5. Formalizing the largest AANHPI physician/healthcare professional organization through APAMSA Alumni network
