Why Officialize APAMSA's Membership System?
Since APAMSA’s inception in 1995, the organization has grown exponentially. We have formalized our leadership structure with an Executive Board, created subcommittees within the national board, established an Alumni Advisory Board, and added regional conferences. With a growing membership, it is essential and necessary to create an official membership process for record keeping, membership confirmation, eligibility for member benefits, etc.
We are implementing dues to ensure a stable source of income, so National APAMSA can provide more scholarships, grants, opportunities, and discounts for our members and local chapters. 100% of the dues will go back to our chapters and allow us to further invest in and build our infrastructure.

No, you do not have to be a paying APAMSA member to join your local chapter and participate in events hosted by your local chapter. This is an individual membership to the National APAMSA organization only (separate from your local chapter membership). There will be national-run events and resources exclusive to APAMSA members. We highly encourage you to sign up and participate for both your local chapter and for this individual membership!
We will still be hosting many national APAMSA events that are open for the public to join! Some events may be free or discounted for APAMSA members, but as a non-APAMSA member you can still attend. Additionally, some national resources and events will be exclusive to APAMSA members only. These events will be clearly marked for APAMSA members only.
You will receive an email when it is time to renew your membership. Your membership will last 12 months (or 24 months for the two-year membership) following your registration. If you have questions, please contact externalvp@apamsa.org.
