Ameryl Loi, Region VII Co-Director
National Board
Hey there! My name is Ameryl, and I’m a fourth year medical student at the UC Irvine School of Medicine. APAMSA has served a large part in my medical school journey, so I’m excited to be serving another year as one of the Region VII Directors! I am passionate about addressing AANHPI health disparities, especially with regard to the intersectionality of the multiple identities we hold. Each year with APAMSA has been a growing and learning experience in this lifelong pursuit. Outside of this, I share a deep love for music, songwriting, and cooking and making coffee for others.
Yichen (Wendy) Fan, Sponsorship Co-Director
National Board
Hello! My name is Wendy and I am a MS1 at Oregon Health & Science University. I was born in Shanghai, China, and immigrated with my parents to Oregon when I was nine. I’m passionate about our AANHPI community and cultures, and hope to grow as a learner and an advocate in APAMSA. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton, piano, and taking long walks when it’s not pouring out in the Pacific Northwest.
Chloe Amsterdam, Region V Co-Director
National Board
Hi all! My name is Chloe Amsterdam and I’m an M2 at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. I’m from Columbus, OH and graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in English and minor in music. I was lucky to serve as OSUCOM’s APAMSA chapter President this past year. I have enjoyed serving the AANHPI communities right here in Columbus, but I look forward to serving and connecting with communities on a greater scale through APAMSA. Outside of school, I am a big foodie and runner, and I love music and writing. I am excited to get more involved with APAMSA as Region V Director!
Ruby Chung, Region II Co-Director
National Board
Hi! My name is Ruby Chung and I am an MS2 at SUNY Downstate Medical School. For 2023, I am serving as the Regional II (NY/NJ) Co-Director for APAMSA. I hope to bridge language barriers between patient and provider and connect more with the AANHPI community in NY/NJ. Outside of school, I love trying new restaurants and new items at bubble tea places and in my free time, I love to do puzzles, board games, and legos!
Steven Tseng, Region II Co-Director
National Board
Hello, my name is Steven Tseng and I am a DO/MS student at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM). Outside of school, I serve as the 2023-2024 Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) Region II Director and the NYITCOM Student Representative at the Chinese American Medical Society (CAMS).
Before medical school, I obtained my B.S. in Biochemistry from the SUNY Stony Brook University and worked as a Medical Scribe/Assistant and GI Technician. As of now, I have my goals set on gastroenterology because of my shadowing and working experience for over five years, as well as my passion in this specialty. However, I am enthusiastic to learn about all different areas of medicine and I am keeping an open mind while exploring different specialties during my medical school journey.
In my free time, I enjoy snowboarding, traveling, and singing. I am currently the Co-Director of NYITCOM Note-O-Chords Acapella singing as a Baritone, and sometimes I also sing for my friends’ weddings. Additionally, I love staying home with my three fluffy and cuddly Netherland Dwarf rabbits (Mochi, Caramel and Sesame).
Michelle Bui, Region VIII Co-Director
National Board
Hey there! My name is Michelle Bui, and I am a rising fourth year at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF). I previously served as one of the APAMSA at UCSF Co-Chairs in 2020-2021, and I am excited to return to the APAMSA family as one of the Region VIII Directors. Within the AANHPI community, I have had previous experiences in advocacy work during the rise of anti-Asian hate amidst the COVID-19 pandemic; forming partnerships with local and regional organizations to host events and promote Asian health; and organizing volunteer, mentorship, and social opportunities within my chapter and region. Wielding this experience, I hope to empower and support Region VIII chapters in reaching their goals for their own communities. Outside of APAMSA, I have interests in the arts and humanities, with an emphasis on interprofessional collaboration and ways that narrative medicine can address burnout and create community within healthcare. I have also spent undergrad at UC Irvine and most of medical school engaging in point-of-care ultrasound research and education, and I dream of owning a Butterfly probe someday. In my free time, I enjoy going to the (bouldering) gym, trying new recipes, and exploring San Francisco with friends.
Bryan An, Region V Co-Director
National Board
Hi everyone! My name is Bryan An and I am an MD student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Ohio State also happens to be my alma mater where I obtained my B.S. in Neuroscience and an English minor (I still use Grammarly though don’t judge me). Before med school, I worked as a camp counselor for Nationwide Children’s Hospital to expose students to STEM fields and worked as a treasurer to host MD Camp at Ohio State, which allowed students from backgrounds that are historically excluded in healthcare to explore careers in healthcare. If it’s not obvious by now, I love working with younger populations and serving as a mentor as a way to give back to my community. I’ve also been involved with the Asian Free Clinic as its coordinator and helped host an AANHPI Mental Health summit. In my free time, I love to read, swim, rollerblade, and be a cat dad (her name is Bella<3). Most importantly, I love spending my free time exploring my roots as a Korean American, whether that means watching k-dramas or spending time cooking with my grandma.

Ellis Jang, Premed APAMSA Co-Director

Hi APAMSA family! My name is Ellis Jang, and I am an M2 at California Northstate University. I was born and raised in SoCal and attended UCLA, where I completed my undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. I have been dedicated to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community health since undergrad, and am honored to currently be a part of a national organization that addresses AANHPI health disparities as well as fosters a strong sense of community and support. I first joined APAMSA in 2022 as a Leadership Committee member and interim Executive Assistant. Outside of school, I enjoy reading my Kindle Unlimited, trying new foods, and spending time with friends/family.
