2013-2014 APAMSA National Health Advocacy Committee Chairs:

Emma Lan

Arthur Chyan

When medical students come together in APAMSA, we have power to advance the health of the Asian & Pacific Islander community. We recognize the need for greater health advocacy actions from our members, and are dedicated to serving our community through health policy reform. Guided by APAMSA’s mission to address the unique health challenges of the A&PI community, we will empower future physicians to engage their peers, elected officials, and society-at-large to implement solutions to health care injustices. Join our APAMSA National Health Advocacy Committee and learn how you can get involved and make a difference in medicine, our community and your own life.

Committee Goals:
-Identify key issues/legislation in A&PI health to address
-Create a core network of APAMSA members to spearhead advocacy efforts
-Upcoming campaigns for 2013-2014 include Hepatitis B discrimination, HIV/AIDS in the A&PI community, Diversity in Medicine
-Gain invaluable experience working with a national committee
