Health Advocacy Initiative Seeks Leaders for Steering Committee, Ideal Candidates APPLY NOW

Dear APAMSA Colleagues,

The goal of APAMSA’s newly formed Health Advocacy Initiative (HAI) is to educate, equip, and empower future physicians to take charge in policies and reform that affect our future and mobilize change and awareness toward health equity in our communities.

There is much work to be done, and so I am seeking leaders to join me in the Steering Committee for this new initiative. Ideal Steering Committee members will be passionate about mobilizing change through grassroots activism as well as advocacy and relational contact with legislators and political representatives. Members should have some knowledge about health equity but be willing to learn about pressing issues and policies that affect the APA community and work with the rest of the Committee in forming legislative allegiances and community coalitions to drive reform. In return members will gain first-hand knowledge of timely policies, contact with national and local APA leaders, experience in grassroots organizing, and the opportunity to play a formative role in establishing and shaping APAMSA’s role in health advocacy. This is a great way to become a leader on a national initiative and get to work with the APAMSA National Board, and the physicians, leaders, and legislators that serve as our advisors and mentors.

If you, or someone you, know fits this description please consider applying or nominating them for the HAI Steering Committee. Applications and nominations will be accepted in the form of a 1 paragraph description of why you/they are an ideal candidate e-mailed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. In solidarity,

Lynne Chang
HAI Chair
